The purpose of our cattle is to have a complete graze with the sheep. Cattle are high impact grazers that eat the top layer sheep won't eat. Generally speaking, the best grazing practice with just cattle is to rest the pasture for longer periods and have cattle do high impact grazing in tighter and smaller plots. Moving cattle from one small plot to another will encourage the best forage growth and root health. Cattle left in large open areas to graze at will generally cause degraded pastures over many years. On this farm, the goal is to have a complete graze in rotation with the sheep to support a healthier soil biome. The quantity of cattle will be kept low and the cattle will not be for sale to the public.
