Eggs
We raise and sell brown eggs to the public. Our flock of egg layers includes Buff Orpington, Black Australorp and Red Sex Link hens. They lay large to extra large eggs in a variety of brown hues. We do not free range our hens due to predator risks, which are high in this area.
If you're interested in eggs, please contact us.
Lamb Meat
We will sell our wether lambs and terminal lambs to the public. Wether lambs are male lambs that we will not keep back for our breeding program or sell to other sheep breeders. Terminal lambs are lambs bred with our Texel/Suffolk/Hampshire rams for the sole purpose of meat products.
We will offer Early Lamb, which is ready for harvest just before Christmas and are the most tender, fine and lean lamb available for the holiday season. This is a premium lamb product desired in international markets. The weights are up to 70 pounds before harvest.
We will also offer Lamb which is aged up to one year. This is the most common product desired by ethnic and European markets. The weights are between 70 and 90 pounds before harvest.
We will offer Yearling Lamb, which are aged between 11 and 20 months. This is the most common type of lamb found in grocery stores and is considered USDA Prime. Grocers just call this Lamb. The weights are between 80 and 150 pounds before harvest.
We will offer Mutton, which are aged older than 24 months. This is a less common product and is considered USDA Choice. Mutton is the most affordable in terms of cost per weight. In the early 1900's mutton was most commonly consumed and declined after World War 2. Mutton has a more robust and fatty flavor that is good in soups, ground meat recipes and heavily seasoned large roasts with vegetables.
We can sell the whole lamb to the customer, or we can have a USDA certified processing facility package the lamb cuts. If we sell the whole lamb, please understand the customer will receive a live lamb and will be responsible for all harvest and processing steps.
NOTE: We will shear all of our lambs before sale and harvest.
Wool
Wool is a wonderful and natural product that has been regaining its place in healthy living.
We will be able to offer clips from our rams and Scotch Mule ewes for individuals who want them. Quantities will be low, so please contact us if you're interested.
We will also be able to take clips to a wool processing facility to clean, card, rove or batt the fiber for you.
Wool Products
Clips from our Scottish Blackface and Scotch Mule ewes will be used in our future wool products.
Check back in late 2024 to see what we came up with.
